Shaw Engineering has structured its benefits package with its employees' quality of life in mind. Office Hours
Shaw Engineering, Ltd. is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the office being closed for lunch between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. Regular office hours are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday.
Pay Periods
Shaw Engineering, Ltd. pays employees twice per month, with the first pay period being from the 1st of the month throught the 15th, and the second pay period being from the 16th to the end of the month. Checks are usually prepared the following day after the end of the pay period, but can take up to three days.
Vacation
Shaw Engineering, Ltd. provides paid vacation as follows: After one year of continuous employment, the employee received 10 days annually, after five years of continous employment, the employee receives 15 days annually, after ten years of continuous employment, the employee receives 20 days annually. Vacation accrues based on each hour worked. Employees must have six months of service before vacation can be used. Only 80 hours of accrued vacation may be rolled over into the new calendar year. Vacation hours not rolled over will be paid to the employee. At the end of employees' 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th year of service, an additional 80 hours of vacation time is awarded.
Volunteer Time Off
Employees are eligible for up to one week annual paid time off to volunteer for local community service. Only certain types of activities are acceptable and must be approved in advance by an in-house review committee.
Sick Leave
Shaw Engineering, Ltd. offers five days of sick leave annually to its emplyees and it is available after six months of continuous employment with the firm. Sick leave begins on January 1 each year and may not be carried over from year to year. Sick leave may be used for personal illness, accident injury, doctor visits, and for illness or injury of an immediate family member.
Medical Insurance
Shaw Engineering, Ltd. offers medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage to the employee at no cost. The employee may elect to insure family members. The additional cost will be deducted from the employee's paycheck. Exact premiums and coverage information can be obtained from the insurance administrator.
Retirement Benefits
After three years of continuous employment, emplyees will become eligible for the Shaw Engineering, Ltd. Simplified Employee Pension IRA. Shaw Engineering, Ltd. will deposit up to 25% of the employee's annual earnings in their IRA. The percentage regardless of position held in the firm.
Paid Holidays
Shaw Engineering, Ltd. recognizes the following paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Nevada Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
